ミステリークレイフィッシュ防除技術研究開発01 / Research and Development of Control Techniques for the Marmorkrebs 01

昨年から維持している最大個体　The largest individual I have been keeping since last year

Ryukyu Nature Positive（琉球ネイチャーポジティブ）では、昨年度よりの防除技術の防除技術研究開発に向けて、ミステリークレイフィッシュProcambarus virginalisの飼育を開始しています。

ミステリークレイフィッシュは特定外来生物に指定されているため、環境省から飼養許可を得ての飼育です。

個体は日本国内で定着初確認となった那覇市への侵入個体群から。

ミステリークレイフィッシュはメスしかいない単為生殖性のザリガニなので、単独でも次々と抱卵します。

飼育施設が整っているわけではないのと、比較的高密度で試験用個体を維持しなければならないため、まずはそこの試行錯誤。

その甲斐あって、少しずつ安定してデータがとれるようになってきました。

それらのデータは、予想を超える繁殖力の高さを示しています。

さて、次の一手。どうしたものか。。。

環境省からの委託を受けつつ、引き続きで琉球ネイチャーポジティブ独自の研究開発を進めています。

技術開発に向けての、試行錯誤の始まりです。

The Ryukyu Nature Positive has been raising the Marmorkrebs Procambarus virginalis as part of my research and development efforts into control technologies, which began last year. The Marmorkrebs is designated as an invasive alien species in Japan, and it is kept under a permit issued by the Ministry of the Environment.

Those individuals came from a population in Naha City, where the first confirmed establishment in Japan was recorded.

The Marmorkrebs lay eggs one after another, even when kept alone, because these are parthenogenetic crayfish consisting only of females.

Since my animal facilities are far from excellent and I must maintain test material at relatively high densities, I have been going through a process of trial and error.

After these improvements, I have gradually begun to collect stable data.

The data showed their reproductive capacity is higher than expected.

Well, what should be the next...

After carrying out a commission from the Ministry of the Environment, I am continuing to advance Ryukyu Nature Positive’s independent research and development.

It is time to start the trial-and-error process toward developing new control technologies.
