外来種ヤエヤママドボタルの防除に向けた研究開発その3：成虫が出ました！ / Research and development for the control of Pyrocoelia atripennis, Part 3: Adults have emerged!

ヤエヤママドボタルのメス成虫。体長は3cmほどで、幼虫から随分縮んだ感じ。

Ryukyu Nature Positive（琉球ネイチャーポジティブ）では、外来種ヤエヤママドボタルPyrocoelia atripennisの防除技術の独自研究開発を進めています。先日蛹化が始まったとの記事を出したところですが、早くも成虫が羽化しました！サナギの期間が思ったよりもずっと短く、2週間ほどだったと思われます。オスもメスも羽化していますが、オスは前回野外から飛来したのと同じホタル型。メスは小さく黒い羽を持つものの、腹部が肥大していて飛べません。知らずに見つけたらホタルとは思わないでしょう。幼虫やサナギに比べると、女王の発光はとても小さく弱いです。

We are conducting independent research and development on control techniques for the invasive firefly Pyrocoelia atripennis. I reported that pupation had begun just recently, but I am making a post because adults have already emerged. The pupal stage was much shorter than I expected, likely lasting only about two weeks. Both male and female adults have seen. The form of males is the same firefly type as those that flew to our apartment from the wild last time. The females have swollen abdomens and are unable to fly, although they have small black wings. If I found one without knowing, I probably would not think it was a firefly. Compared to the larvae and pupae, the queen's luminescence is very small and weak.

この黒い翅が学名の由来かと思いきや、そうではないみたい。。。ですね。
