伊平屋島で調査 / Field Survey on Iheya Island

哺乳類調査の支援要員として、伊平屋島に調査に行ってきました。

夜間の哺乳類調査ということで、アリ類、特に雄アリが専門だった自分には以前は馴染みがないものでした。

現在実施しているヤエヤママドボタルの夜間調査や、OIST勤務時代にカメラトラップ網を立ち上げた経験が、とても役に立っています。

今更ながら、新しい経験が活動の幅を広げてくれていることを実感します。

I visited Iheya Island to assist with a mammal survey.

As it was a nighttime mammal survey, it was something I was not familiar with, as I specialize in ants, especially males.

However, the nighttime surveys of an invasive firefly, Pyrocoelia atripennis, that I am currently conducting, as well as my experience establishing camera trap networks in Okinawa-jima during my time at OIST, have been very useful.

I am once again reminded that new experiences are broadening the scope of my activities.
